Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest went off without a hitch this past Saturday, and the annual 4th of July staple did not disappoint in the slightest! The lack of a live crowd provided a different environment for the competitors, no doubt, but it didn’t seem to bother the defending champs on both the men’s and women’s side, respectively.
First, it was Miki Sudo blazing out of the gate and never looking back, as she kept up an incredible pace on her way to finishing with 48.5 hot dogs for a new world record and her 7th straight title at Nathan’s. She also beat her personal best of 41 by 7.5 dogs in the process! Wow!
Check out some highlights below:
Following that incredible performance was the men’s contest, and thanks to Joey “Jaws” Chestnut setting a new world record with his 5th straight win (and 13th all-time) and a tight battle for second between Darron Breeden and Nick Wehry, the audience watching on ESPN at home got their money’s worth and then some.
Some highlights from the men’s contest:
Congratulations to both Joey and Miki on their new world records! We’ll be waiting in anticipation for the next event.
